LMS Ranked #2 in Schools Like Us
Loris Middle was named a Silver Award winner in the annual Palmetto Gold and
Silver Awards, a program that was created by the South Carolina General
Assembly to recognize schools that attained high levels of absolute
performance, high rates of growth and substantial progress in closing
achievement gaps between groups of students. The awards are determined
by the South Carolina Department of Education and South Carolina
Education Oversight Committee.
Schools receive general awards for overall performance based on both
their absolute and growth ratings and the growth index found on school

At the end of the school year, those students who meet their quarterly goals received reading medals, reading leader t-shirts and are treated to a very special luncheon by the Principal.
